Three Akron teenagers were charged with misdemeanor counts of soliciting April 17 after they were arrested as part of an undercover prostitution sting conducted by Reynoldsburg police.

Three Akron teenagers were charged with misdemeanor counts of soliciting April 17 after they were arrested as part of an undercover prostitution sting conducted by Reynoldsburg police.

According to police reports, officers posing as johns met them at a Brice Road hotel after the girls, ages 15 and 17, ran online ads for escort services.

One of the 15-year-olds had been reported missing. Another 15-year-old and the 17-year-old were runaways, police said.

They were taken to Franklin County Children Services to facilitate getting them home to Akron, police said.

During the sting operation, which lasted from 8 a.m. until noon, police said a 21-year-old woman showed up at the hotel looking for one of the 15-year-old girls. She was questioned by police and later charged with trafficking in persons, a first-degree felony; interference with custody, a first-degree misdemeanor; and soliciting, a third-degree misdemeanor.

Charges were also filed against four other people, police said: A 30-year-old Columbus woman was charged with soliciting, a third-degree misdemeanor; a 20-year-old Columbus woman was charged with prostitution, also a third-degree misdemeanor; a 26-year-old Columbus woman was charged with running an adult entertainment operation without a permit, a fourth-degree misdemeanor and drug abuse, a minor misdemeanor; and a 19-year-old Columbus woman was charged with running an adult entertainment operation without a permit, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

In other Reynoldsburg police reports:

• A Reynoldsburg woman told police she was robbed at gunpoint at 6:45 a.m. April 11 while she was withdrawing money from an automated teller machine at a bank in the 6900 block of East Main Street.

While she was at the ATM, she said, a black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and charcoal-colored scarf approached her vehicle from the west.

He brandished a handgun, stuck it in her face and demanded $400, she told police.

Police reports said she complied and handed over the cash. The robber then apologized and ran west into an alley. The woman immediately drove to the Truro Township Fire Department for help. She later told police the man appeared and sounded desperate.

• A 22-year-old Columbus man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated at 6:13 a.m. April 11 at a gas station in the 7800 block of East Main Street after officers responding to a call found him passed out at the wheel of his vehicle at the gas pump. Police said the vehicle also had hit a street sign at East Main and Estates Lane. The man tested above 0.17 for blood alcohol content, police reports said.

• A 26-year-old Reynoldsburg man was arrested for drug trafficking and drug possession at 12:55 a.m. April 13 in the 2100 block of Brice Road. Police reports said officers approached the man in his parked vehicle because they smelled marijuana.

They also reported seeing a container of a white powder in plain sight. A search of the car turned up 9 grams of crack cocaine, 3 grams of heroin and cocaine and a digital scale, police reports said.
