Reynoldsburg police are investigating two attempted burglaries they believe involved the same suspect.

The first attempted burglary happened at 11:02 p.m. Nov. 23 in the 2000 block of Hughey Square Court.

The resident told police he was sitting in his front room when he heard rustling and saw a shadow on the front window. He said he struck at the window to scare the person away, and then looked out his front door and saw a black man wearing a black jacket and jeans fleeing eastbound.

Police reported finding markings on the window indicating that someone had tried to gain entry by cutting the screen.

Police believe the same person could be responsible for a second attempted burglary at 11:37 p.m. Nov. 23 in the 2000 block of Lynbridge Drive.

A woman called to report someone she described as a black man wearing a black jacket and jeans knocked at her front door and when she answered, she said he gave a "suspicious" reason for being at the home at such a late hour.

After a brief conversation, the man left in a red Dodge Charger. Damage was later discovered to the front door lock. In addition, police reports said, a side door to the garage had been kicked open.
