Hartley High School recently chose new coaches for baseball and field hockey.

Chris Sawyer, who was an assistant baseball coach with the Hawks the last two seasons, takes over the head coaching position after Chad Young left to become an assistant principal at Bloom-Carroll Middle School.

The baseball team went 11-14 in Young's first season in 2014 and finished 16-12 this spring, earning a Division III district runner-up finish.

Sawyer is a 1992 Lebanon graduate who played baseball for four seasons at Capital University. He also served as an assistant for two seasons under Young at Canal Winchester.

Sawyer has been an assistant football coach at Hartley since 2008 and serves as offensive coordinator.

Abby Evans, a 2012 Hartley graduate, is the new field hockey coach. She was an assistant last season and replaces Mary Ellen Sullivan, whose team went 4-11 in her only season last fall.
