The Hilliard Davidson High School girls cross country team won the Division I regional team championship and Canal Winchester's Kayla Scott was the individual winner Saturday, Oct. 29, at Pickerington North.

Along with the Wildcats (74 points), set to compete in the state meet Saturday, Nov. 5, at National Trail Raceway in Hebron are Dublin Coffman (82), Dublin Scioto (100) and Upper Arlington (130).

"The pieces fell together for us and we were able to pull off the win," Davidson coach Emily Holliday said. "We've been racing well and just had a really tight pack."

Scott made her move during the second mile of the race and finished in 18 minutes, 49 seconds to outlast Olentangy Orange's Hannah Hartzell (18:53.3) for the title.

"Pacewise, it was a really good race for me," Scott said. "I didn't want to take the lead at the beginning but just wanted to stay with the top pack. Last year I didn't qualify for the regional, so this is exciting."

Among those advancing individually were Reynoldsburg's Leah Wallace (fifth, 19:15.22), Dublin Jerome's Kaitlyn Willette (seventh, 19:22.58), Hilliard Darby's Julissa Poullet (12th, 19:47.61), Pickerington North's Kristen Eisenhauer (13th, 19:48.42), Westerville North's Heather Sandvik (14th, 19:51.14) and New Albany's Camilla Suarez (15th, 20:04.46).

Finishing among the top 16 to lead Davidson were Caroline Hildebrand (ninth, 19:30.81), Lauren Hoover (10th, 19:36.21) and Lilly Saniel-Banrey (16th, 20:06.08). Coffman's Clarissa Bons (third, 19:08.66) and Rachel Bosworth (fourth, 19:09.13) and Upper Arlington's Dorrian Jaffe (sixth, 19:22.4) also placed among the top 16.

Also advancing individually were Teays Valley's Lora Overholt (eighth, 19:27.68) and Zanesville's Sarah Kaufman (11th, 19:43.44).
