The Lions knew they were facing an opponent that was 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the MSL-Ohio. They didn't expect to come home without a victory.

The Golden Eagles won 47-31, a defeat that cost Bexley a home playoff game in 2013.

"That turned out to be their only league win that year," said coach John Smith, whose team improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the MSL-Ohio with a 42-35 win over West Jefferson on Sept. 25. "It still stings for some of these kids who were there. They made mistakes in that game. We've got to find a way to stay focused because we can't look past this game."

Bexley's defense will be focused on quarterback Jake Vallery, a four-year starter who scored on runs of 4 and 1 yard and threw a 23-yard touchdown pass in a 47-28 loss to Harvest Prep on Sept. 25.

After starting 3-0, the Golden Eagles have lost their last two contests.

Bexley quarterback Simon Kroos had his most proficient performance of the season against West Jefferson, completing 10 of 12 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

Micah Fliegel scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Rico Truss (786 yards, 93 carries, 8 TDs) and Fliegel (308 yards, 42 carries, 5 TDs) continue to lead an offense averaging 283.6 yards rushing per game.
