The Ready High School football team beat Wheeling (West Virginia) Linsly 35-7 on Oct. 14 at Upper Arlington in its final regular-season home game.

Ready plays Friday, Oct. 21, at Byesville Meadowbrook, which lost to Uhrichsville Claymont 48-15 on Oct. 14 to fall to 2-6.

The Knights lost to Hartley 56-17 on Oct. 7 in the CCL-Gold Division championship game but improved to 5-3 with the win over Linsly.

Ready still is holding out hope of making the Division VI, Region 23 playoffs but likely needs to win out to have a chance. It closes the regular season Oct. 28 at Fayetteville, which beat Dayton Jefferson 41-20 on Oct. 14 to improve to 6-2 and is battling for a Division VI, Region 24 playoff berth.

"If we can win the last three games, we'd be 7-3 and who knows what would happen," coach Brian Cross said before the Linsly game. "We're a small Division VI team. Somehow if we could keep winning, you see what happens."
