The "Sunday Matinee Movie" series returns with a month of Paul Newman films shown on the big screen. The series will begin with "The Long Hot Summer" at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Newman stars with Orson Welles and Joanne Woodward in this drama of a domineering Southerner, his daughter and a wandering handyman. Feb. 8: "Cool Hand Luke." Feb. 15: "Slap Shot." Feb. 22: "The Verdict."

Upper Arlington High School student and new author Mike Brienza will visit the library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, to discuss his five-year journey writing "The Pilot," his development as a writer, the process of publishing and following his dreams. All ages are welcome. A book signing will follow the talk.

Children in grades 4-6 can "Make a Wimpy Diary" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3. Participants will make a special place to write and doodle, based on "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney. Registration is required.

"English Conversation Class" for ESOL students meets at 9:30 a.m. Mondays. Practice speaking English with instructor Nancy Brown and other non-native speakers.

"Tailwagging Tutors" returns to the Lane Road Library at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. Kindergartners through fifth-graders can read to trained therapy dogs and practice reading skills. Registration is required.

"Let's Speak English" meets at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Mondays. ESOL students can study English in small groups with experienced ESOL tutors.

"Winter Storytimes" are currently under way. "Babytime" meets at 10 a.m. Thursdays; "Tales for Twos and Threes" meets at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays; and "Preschool Storytime" meets at 1 p.m. Tuesdays.
