Last month, the Upper Arlington community -- along with all of Ohio -- came together to mourn the loss of Stefanie Spielman and celebrate a life that had touched so many others.

Stefanie was a champion in the truest sense: her battle against breast cancer provided hope and inspiration to countless other families dealing with the disease, and her efforts to raise awareness and research dollars will help save many future lives.

The Spielman family has given so much of themselves, and it is only fitting that we honor Stefanie's generosity with a gesture befitting her legacy. Stefanie's Tree of Hope will serve as a public reminder of all that Stefanie accomplished, watching over the community and the people she so dearly loved for many years to come.

Upper Arlington has long been known as a great place to live and raise a family, and residents have shown once again their willingness to come together in times of hope and sadness in honor of one of our own. Stefanie's Tree of Hope will keep her message and mission alive for residents and visitors alike and serve as a wonderful reminder of a remarkable woman.

Thank you, Stefanie, for all your hard work. Now it is our turn to repay your kindness, and I am sure we are up to the challenge.
