The Fantasy of Lights - a drive-through holiday display - offers a relaxing way to appreciate holiday lights.

Visitors can drive through the decorated lanes of Alum Creek State Park Marina from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19 to Jan. 2.

The marina is on Hollenback Road, Delaware, off south Old State Road, about four miles north of Polaris Parkway.

Each year, a portion of the proceeds from Fantasy of Lights benefits Recreation Unlimited, a not-for-profit organization in Delaware County that provides recreational opportunities for people with physical and developmental disabilities.

The display includes 138 holiday displays, including the S.S. Santa, which is the tallest display, a tunnel of lights and a winter scene.

Visitors will see two new displays: one is Santa fishing and the other a snowball fight that arches over the road, said Stephanie Fox-Gandee, office manager for Cross Enterprises, the company that manages the marina and presents the light display.

Her favorite display is the word "peace" between two large silver bells accented with ribbons.

"It's bright, vivid and a good message for everybody, no matter what religion you are," she said.

Last year, just under 12,000 cars visited the display, Fox-Gandee said.

Each year, event organizer Steve Cross recommends avoiding lines and coming early, noting that the week of Christmas is always the busiest.

Folks also can stop in the marina store for free cookies and hot chocolate. Photos with Santa are also available for $5 per photo.

All proceeds from the photos go to benefit Recreation Unlimited.

Last year, the event contributed $11,000 to Recreation Unlimited, Cross said.

The cost to enter is $10 per car most days; $15 per car Friday-Sunday and everyday after Dec. 16.
