Lane Avenue has been front and center for the past two construction seasons, and while there's more work ahead this year, the good news is that we're close to the end.

Here's an update of what to expect this coming season:

Mixed-use project and Wellesley Drive intersection: Improvements to the Wellesley Drive and Lane Avenue intersection began this week and will last through early June, weather permitting.

While this work is under way, the intersection is closed to through traffic. Travel on Lane Avenue and access into the Shops on Lane Avenue and Whole Foods at the Wellesley traffic signal is not affected.

Local traffic can still access Wellesley Drive from College Hill Drive to the north. The work comprises demolition of existing sidewalks, curb and gutter and roadway, widening the intersection to three lanes, and then rebuilding curb and gutter, roadway and sidewalks. The pedestrian crossing will be fully operational upon completion of the work.

Lane Avenue resurfacing: The section of Lane Avenue between Northwest Boulevard and North Star Drive will be resurfaced this summer. Work is scheduled to occur in July, with additional details pending.

At this time, the three-lane configuration of this section of roadway will be formalized, with parking on the northernmost lane allowed except during the evening rush hour (4 to 6 p.m.) and on OSU home game Saturdays.

Lane Avenue streetlights: The section of Lane Avenue between Northwest Boulevard and North Star Drive will have new streetlights installed on both sides of the street. Much of the underground work is already complete, so city crews will be pulling wire and installing the light poles/luminaires in June and August. The remaining work will have limited impact on traffic.
