Family pets and service animals are invited to receive a special blessing June 2, at one of two outdoor worship services hosted at Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Drive.

Animals are welcome at both the 8:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. services held in Northwest's Chapel in the Woods located on the north side of the church property. All animals must be on leashes or contained throughout each service. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually.

In the event of inclement weather, the services may be moved indoors.

The weekly 8:15 a.m. Chapel in the Woods service is just one of four worship opportunities available at Northwest UMC this summer. Each Sunday at 9:30 a.m., a traditional family worship service is held in the church sanctuary, and an 11 a.m. contemporary service takes place in the more casual, multi-purpose "ministry center" space.

Once a month a 30-minute "gentle worship" service is offered in the sanctuary for families with young children, those with special needs and others who, for various reasons, prefer shorter worship. Gentle worship is held the second Sunday of each month.

For more information about any of these services, visit nwumc.com or call the church at 451-2825.
