Canine friends will swarm the streets of Uptown Westerville this week for the popular annual Dog Days of Summer 4th Friday celebration.

The monthly block party will be pup-themed Friday, Aug. 28, with judges awarding prizes for the pooches with best hair, talent, name and a variety of other superlatives.

A $5 entry fee for participants will raise funds for donation to the Humane Society of Delaware County.

Residents are invited to bring their dogs to the event, regardless of whether they will participate in the contests.

Dogs and owners also can take part in a scavenger hunt throughout Uptown between 6 and 8 p.m. Teams can pick up scavenger hunt sheets at the HSDC table in the City Hall courtyard. The first team to bring all items back will win a prize.

Performances from a variety of musical artists and dancers from Fred Astaire Dance Studio aim to keep the crowd entertained, while more than 100 vendors across Uptown will offer a variety of products and services.
