A Columbus woman was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital for a mental health evaluation after she was found walking down a Westerville street while carrying a knife around 8 p.m. Aug. 26.

A resident in the first block of West Plum Street reported seeing the woman walking down the street. By the time officers arrived, the woman had entered one of the houses.

The woman told police she had left the house because she was worried a dog inside would harm her and her unborn child.

According to police reports, when asked why she was carrying a knife, she responded that she was making dinner. She told officers multiple times that she "only answered to God."

The woman told officers she did not want to go to the hospital, and had been released from nearby Netcare earlier that evening.

Neighbors told police they were not threatened by the woman, but were "concerned" about her behavior.

When police told the woman she needed to go to the hospital, she "became irate," but was eventually transported to Riverside for evaluation. No charges have been filed.
