A Westerville girl was robbed while attempting to purchase a gun from a 17-year-old Westerville boy.

According to police reports, the girl met the boy outside of a building in the 900 block of South Sunbury Road on the night of Nov. 11. She originally told police the pair met before walking to a friend's house, but later said she brought $200 in cash to buy marijuana, reports stated.

She told police she had pulled out the cash when the boy pulled out two handguns and grabbed the $200 from her hands before fleeing.

Officers later found the boy, who had more than $180 in his possession, according to reports. They did not find any handguns, and the boy's parents would not allow police to search their residence for evidence, reports stated.

When police went through the victim's phone, they found a conversation between the victim and the suspect that discussed the possibility of her purchasing a gun for $200.

They later discovered she had a friend prepared to call police if anything went wrong, but did not plan on buying the weapon.

Reports stated the boy was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and displaying a firearm.
