Whitehall police arrested three people May 11 following what appeared to be an accidental shooting via a BB-gun.

Whitehall police and medics were dispatched at 8:45 p.m. May 11 to a residence in the 300 block of Maplewood Avenue.

Police said a 19-year-old man forcibly entered a residence and assaulted an unknown person inside. He was arrested for misdemeanor counts of assault and obstructing official business.

People inside the residence shoved the man outside and held the door shut, police said.

Police said the man attempted to re-enter the house but followed the order of police to stop.

Moments later, a 41-year-old man, identified at the first man's father, refused to comply with a police order to not attempt to enter the residence. Police used a Taser to subdue the man, who was arrested for obstructing official business.

Police interviewed multiple witnesses and determined a boy firing a BB gun in the backyard of the residence accidentally struck a girl, police said.

He also was arrested for discharging a firearm within city limits.
