Whitehall police issued a warrant for the arrest of a 33-year-old man and said additional drug-related charges are possible after officers removed chemicals and equipment used for manufacturing drugs from a Country Club Road residence early July 15.

About 1:30 a.m. July 15, police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle on Country Club Road, said Whitehall Police Chief Mark Newcomb.

One of the vehicle's occupants was detained and the other fled on foot, Newcomb said.

The chase ended in the backyard of a residence where chemicals used in the manufacture of illegal narcotics were discovered, Newcomb said.

Due to the potential volatility of the chemicals, Whitehall police and fire personnel and other agencies collaborated to mitigate the risk in operations that extended into the afternoon of July 15, Newcomb said.

Police communicated this to Country Club Road residents via letters delivered to area homes, reports said.

An investigation revealed the homeowner is not directly involved in the matter and charges are forthcoming against other individuals, including Kevin L. McGinn, 33, according to Whitehall police.

A warrant for burglary, a third-degree felony, has been filed against McGinn, police said.

McGinn is not a resident of the Country Club Road residence where the chemicals and equipment were found but has used the address in the past, police said.

Additional charges are pending against McGinn and could include charges of manufacturing drugs, said Whitehall Sgt. John Grebb.
