* Northwest Library and Worthington Park Library's homework help centers are open from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The Old Worthington Library center is open from 3 to 6 p.m, Mondays through Thursdays. Each center has dedicated computers, courtesy printing of homework-related materials and library staff and volunteers to help students with school assignments.

* Children ages 9-11 will create commercials for their favorite books Thursday, Jan. 21, at Northwest Library. Those attending the 4 p.m. Film It! workshop, presented in partnership with Thurber House, should bring their book and an iPad (the library's devices will also be available to share). Registration is required.

* A video-game extravaganza is planned for teens at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 -- and each Friday through Jan. 29 -- at Old Worthington Library.

* Old Worthington Library will host a Wild West Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23. Those attending should wear western gear.

* Children will make masks and slime at Worthington Park Library's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23.

* The next meeting of Northwest Library's Let's Dish cookbook club will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25. Prepare a recipe from Courtney Allison's The Soup Club Cookbook or Ellen Brown's Soup of the Day prior to the meeting, and come ready to share the cooking experience (and samples, if desired).

* The ACT is the focus of the next session in Northwest Library's College 101 series. During the 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, program, ACT Strategies, a Princeton Review tutor, will explain the test's format and content to teens, and attendees will get sample questions. Participants also will receive sound test strategies.

* The library's English Conversation Group for new English language learners will meet at Old Worthington Library at 7 p.m. Wednesdays through May 18. Library staff will help participants with basic English skills, pronunciation practice and talking in English.
