It's back to school time for our Worthington Schools. The energy and enthusiasm from our staff and students is amazing and inspiring. I have no doubt we are on track for another great year ahead.

It's back to school time for our Worthington Schools. The energy and enthusiasm from our staff and students is amazing and inspiring. I have no doubt we are on track for another great year ahead.

This year we will build upon the important work we've started with establishing the mission and vision for our schools. Our mission is "To empower a community of learners who will change the world." Our goal is to create an environment where students can be inspired and use their knowledge, creativity and passions to make a positive impact in our community and beyond.

We recently held our staff convocation where 1,250 Worthington staff members met to celebrate and kick off the upcoming school year. This is an important time for us to challenge and inspire each other to improve and translate our passion for education into helping students.

We have set clear expectations and identified how we will continue to get our mission accomplished.

Our goal is not simply graduation or college admission, but rather it's helping our young people develop into well-rounded global citizens who are confident enough to go forward and fulfill their dreams.

If you walk the halls of our schools on any given day, it won't take long for you to discover students and staff already changing the world. Throughout this school year, we will be bringing their stories to you through the many ways we communicate -- our Worthington Schools blog, social media, our website, the newspaper and newsletters. We also invite you to share your own personal stories by sending it to http://www.worthington.k12.oh.us/success or by tagging us on social media @WorthingtonSchools and #ItsWorthIt.

Changing the world happens in big and small ways and it's up to our school and community to build a strong foundation.

Whether it's as simple as helping a friend, to spending hours on the practice field, to taking challenging courses to better prepare for college, with the help of our caring staff and community, our hope is that all these experiences ensure our students our maximizing their potential.

Thank you for continued support of our schools and young people. Together let's make the 2016-17 school year the best one yet.
