The Thomas Worthington High School girls volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak during a tri-match Sept. 26.

The Cardinals beat host Delaware 25-10, 25-19 and then rallied to defeat Westerville South 15-25, 25-19, 25-23 to improve to 5-8 overall. They were 2-6 in the OCC-Central Division before playing Westland on Sept. 29.

"We're just starting to learn how to finish games and matches," coach Anthony Chappel said. "I thought our girls showed a lot of grit against Westerville South. We need to continue to play like we did (Sept. 26) to pick up more momentum as we move forward."

Chappel said Regan Morgan and Gabrielle Ramsey have been strong at the net and that Maddie Matthews was leading the team in digs through 13 matches and Layne Keegan was leading in assists.

The tri-match began a stretch of six matches in an eight-day period for Thomas, which plays a league match Thursday, Oct. 1, at Dublin Coffman and in a tri-match Saturday, Oct. 3, with host Olentangy Orange and Logan. The Cardinals lost to the Shamrocks 25-13, 25-5, 25-7 in a league match Sept. 3.

Before beating Delaware, Thomas had lost consecutive matches against league opponents Hilliard Davidson (25-15, 25-18, 25-22 on Sept. 17), Olentangy Liberty (25-8, 25-10, 25-12 on Sept. 21) and Upper Arlington (25-12, 25-18, 25-13 on Sept. 24).
