A Delaware County Sheriff's deputy responded to a Berlin Township business late last month after an employee discovered a bag containing an unknown substance.

A Delaware County Sheriff's deputy responded to a Berlin Township business late last month after an employee discovered a bag containing an unknown substance.

A deputy arrived shortly before 5 a.m. Jan. 30 at a business in the 5600 block of Columbus Pike. An employee told the deputy she discovered a clear plastic bag containing an unknown powdery white substance behind the toilet in the business' bathroom.

The employee told the deputy she did not know who left the item in the bathroom, which is open to the public.

The deputy collected the substance, which will be destroyed, according to sheriff's reports.

* A woman crashed her vehicle after swerving to avoid a deer about 8:15 p.m. Jan. 30 in the 1300 block of Lackey Old State Road in Berlin Township, according to sheriff's reports. The northbound car suffered "medium disabling damage" after leaving the east lane of the roadway and rolling, reports said.

The driver was not seriously injured in the crash, according to sheriff's reports.

* An employee of a business in the 8500 block of Columbus Pike in Orange Township reported a burglary took place between 5:45 and 6:15 a.m. Jan. 26. Someone reportedly broke into the business through a window and stole a cash register valued at $500.

* An employee of a business in the 8800 block of Green Meadows Drive reported a theft occurred between 1:30 p.m. Jan. 30 and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 1. Tools valued at $1,050 reportedly were stolen from the business.

* A man reported a burglary occurred between 8 p.m. Jan. 24 and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 25 in the 6800 block of Steitz Road in Liberty Township. An unknown suspect reportedly broke in through a basement door and stole appliances, construction equipment and tools, together valued at $2,043.

* A woman reported someone stole her car, which is valued at $17,500, between 11 p.m. Feb. 1 and 11 a.m. Feb. 2 from the 4000 block of Greensview Drive in Liberty Township.

* A man reported a theft from a vehicle took place between 1:30 and 11:45 a.m. Jan. 29 in the 9100 block of Lake Ridge Drive in Orange Township. An unknown suspect reportedly stole audio equipment valued at $900 from the car.

* A man reported a theft from a vehicle occurred between 8 p.m. Jan. 25 and 8 a.m. Jan. 26 in the 400 block of Meadow View Drive. An unknown suspect reportedly stole a car seat worth $100, a floor buffer valued at $100 and a check for $250, among other items.

* A woman reported a theft from a vehicle occurred between 1:15 and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 25 in the 2800 block of East Orange Road in Orange Township. Someone reportedly stole a purse valued at $10 and $100 cash from the car.
