The Westerville City School District celebrated the accomplishments of 28 seniors from its three high schools at the Early Learning Center on Feb. 27.
A reception, complete with cake, was held prior to the presentation of diplomas to students at the Westerville school board's regular meeting.
Principals from each school provided brief comments prior to the presentation of diplomas to those who had met all local and state requirements to graduate.
Westerville Central Principal Todd Spinner said he was honored to recognize the graduating Wildcats, Warhawks and Warriors.
"This represents the finish line," he said. "We know you will do great things in the future with your lives."
North High School Principal Kurt Yancey said it's a pleasure to say congratulations to district graduates.
"Accept our congratulations on this accomplishment," he said. "Before you cross the bridge officially, no matter what happens from here, continue to push yourselves to keep moving forward."
Westerville South Principal Michael Starner also offered his congratulations.
He said the district's purpose is to help prepare students for life after high school, and now is a time to celebrate the transition.
"If I offered advice, it would be to have a plan," he added. "Tonight is a celebration."
He also recognized the families of the graduating students.
Board President Rick Vilardo said he and his colleagues and the principals take great pride in these occasions.
Six of the 28 graduates attended the winter ceremony, including Alexandra Cole and Mallory Spencer from Westerville North; Harley Bruce and Daniel West II of Westerville South; and Larry Wells III and Joey Harris of Westerville North.
