A woman told Columbus police she was assaulted at 8:35 p.m. March 14 near the intersection of West Tulane Road and North High Street by a man who apparently was outraged that she was texting while driving.
The victim said "she confronted the suspect after he pounded on her car telling her to stop texting in traffic." During the exchange, the woman said, the man "palmed her face" before driving off.
The victim had no visible injuries, according to reports.
In other recent Clintonville-area police reports:
* Shoes valued at $20,000 and jewelry worth $10,000 were among the items reported stolen at 3:30 p.m. March 13 from a home in the 700 block of West Weisheimer Road. The victim said the back door of his residence was kicked in after 7:30 a.m. that day. A $500 television also was stolen, reports said.
* A woman who lives in the 100 block of East Kelso Road told police she came home at 3 p.m. March 14 to discover the back door of her home had been kicked in. A $375 television and a gold pocket watch with gold chain valued at $2,000 were taken, according to reports.
Police said a "suspicious person and vehicle" in the area were stopped by officers, and the driver was taken in for questioning.
* A man was charged with disorderly conduct at 7:02 p.m. March 15 after police responded to a report of an intoxicated person in the 3400 block of North High Street. The suspect "was unable to stand by himself or speak," according to reports.
* Someone kicked in the back door of a home in the first block of West Schreyer Place between noon and 10:26 p.m. March 14, reports said.
The victim said a $3,000 laptop computer and a television worth $300 were stolen.
