Gahanna's Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Gahanna) is launching an inaugural Herb'n Restaurant Week celebration Sunday, May 7, leading up to Herb Day on May 13.

Nine Gahanna restaurants and bakeries have challenged their chefs to create original dishes inspired by herbs including cilantro, basil, thyme, mint, lavender, sage and lemongrass.

Diners will reap the rewards through appetizers, main dishes, cocktails and desserts.

"Herb'n Restaurant Week was created by Visit Gahanna to showcase the city's Herb Capital of Ohio designation," said Laurie Jadwin, Visit Gahanna director. "We invited the community's signature dining establishments to take part and were thrilled with their enthusiastic responses. The event was planned to build upon the excitement for the city's popular Herb Day festivities."

Herb enthusiasts can dine at a different Gahanna Herb'n Restaurant Week eatery every night through May 13, pairing each meal with a different selection from Visit Gahanna's Herbal Cocktail Trail Passport.

Participating restaurants include: 101 Beer Kitchen Gahanna, Somedays Bistro and Wine Bar, Arepazo Tapas and Wine, Barrel & Boar, The Barn at Rocky Fork Creek, Cap City Fine Diner Gahanna, Koko Tea Salon & Bakery, Wyandotte Winery and Mrs. Turbo's Cookies.

The celebration ends on Herb Day, when guests can shop from among hundreds of varieties of fresh herb plants for the garden or home cooking.
