A 10-hour home invasion at a West Side apartment complex July 19 left two men dead and three other people wounded.

Columbus police have issued arrest warrants for two men they describe as "armed and dangerous" in connection with the incident: 35-year-old Desmond Lemelle Webster and 22-year-old Julius Ledale Anderson. Both face aggravated-murder charges and likely other charges, police said.

Officers were called to the 800 block of Wedgwood Drive near Briggs Road, in the Wedgewood Village apartment complex, at 1:48 a.m. July 19 on a report of a shooting.

Abdul Cadir Ali Yussef, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:10 a.m. by paramedics. Mohamed Ali Mohamed, 26, was taken in extremely critical condition to Mount Carmel West, where he died shortly after noon July 19.

Two other men in the apartment were injured. Mulhidin Haji, 22, was transported to OhioHealth Doctors Hospital with moderate injuries after he was struck with a handgun. Omar Mohamed Omar, 21, was injured after he jumped out a second-story window. He was not taken to a hospital.

In addition, 27-year-old Ashley Tucker was wounded when bullets from the shooting in the apartment above hers went through the floor into her apartment. She was taken to Mount Carmel West, where she was listed in stable condition.

Sgt. Jeff Strayer, who oversees the third-shift homicide unit, said it isn't clear what motivated the home invasion or prompted the shootings.

"It was not random," Strayer said.

Police also are looking for two more men who had not been identified by ThisWeek's press time.

A neighbor had called 911 to report men were breaking into a nearby apartment. She told The Dispatch that while police officers were on the scene investigating, they all heard gunshots coming from the apartment in the 800 block of Wedgewood.

Webster and Anderson escaped in a stolen white Toyota Prius that was torched after it was abandoned about 3 miles away in the 1600 block of Rosemont Avenue.

The July 19 deaths mark a total of six homicides at the apartment complex this year -- in three double-fatal shootings.

In January, Jawuan Lamont Wade Reynolds, a rapper who also went by the stage name of Fam Staxx, and his best friend, Caleb Jordan Killen, were found fatally shot inside Killen's car at Wedgewood Village.

In April, 25-year-old Omar Abdulkadir Ali and 21-year-old Mohamed Noor "Deq" Mohamed were killed outside an apartment building on Wedgewood Drive.

The apartment complex is owned by Wedgewood Village 2010, which is based in Detroit.

Anyone with information about the home invasion is asked to call police at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
