Three construction workers reported tools were stolen from their work vehicles while they were staying at local hotels.

Two of the men reported Aug. 9 the thefts occurred overnight while they were staying at a hotel in the 1800 block of Stringtown Road. The first man reported the missing tools together are valued at $2,030. The second man said his missing tools are worth $1,699.

An Akron man staying in a hotel in the 4100 block of Parkway Centre Drive reported Aug. 10 that tools valued at $3,220 were stolen overnight from his truck.

In other recent Grove City police reports:

* A construction manager reported Aug. 3 that a skid steer attachment valued at $8,500 was stolen from a construction site in the 1300 block of Stringtown Road. The theft occurred between 6:30 p.m. July 24 and noon July 26.

* Officers responded at 5:43 a.m. Aug. 3 to the 2800 block of Toth Place on a report of three people checking door handles on cars in a parking lot.

When he arrived, an officer observed a male juvenile walking toward Ashton Row East and watched as he checked the door handles on six or seven cars without gaining entry to any of them.

The officer stopped the juvenile, who admitted he had been going through cars in the parking lot and stealing items from them.

While he was talking to the boy, the officer saw another male juvenile and a female juvenile in the area. Another officer stopped them and they admitted to taking items from cars.

Officers confiscated several items from the juveniles, including car chargers, two watches, two phone chargers, an ashtray, charging cords, two chains, a pocket knife, headphones and an adapter.

Contact was made with a resident in the 2800 block of Toth Place who reported a bottle of perfume and a CD case were taken from her car. The perfume was found in possession of the juveniles and the CD case was located in the road on Ashton Row West. The items were returned to the woman, who declined to press charges.

The other recovered items were placed in the police department's evidence room in case other residents reported missing items.

The juveniles were released at the scene to their parents.

* An employee of a carrier business reported Aug. 9 two tires and rims were stolen overnight from one of the company's semitrailers that was parked at another business in the block of 3300 Urbancrest Industrial Drive. The carrier frequently hauls for the other company and regularly leaves its vehicles parked at its client's location, police reports said. Total loss was $1,000.
