A driver who led Grove City and Groveport police on a chase Aug. 9 was apprehended by Pickaway County sheriff's deputies at a gas station in Circleville on Aug. 11.
Harold L. Brown, 52, 1 Cyrus St., Commercial Point, is being held in the Pickaway County jail.
According to Grove City police reports, Brown was driving a pickup truck that Groveport police and U.S. marshals tried to stop in a parking lot in the 3900 block of Hoover road at 11:20 p.m. Aug. 9.
Brown headed east in the lot and crashed into a Groveport cruiser, then continued east in the lot, driving over a curb and onto Hoover Road.
A Grove City police officer began chasing Brown's vehicle with his lights and siren activated. Brown continued driving north on Hoover Road and ran a red light at the Parlin Drive intersection, police reports said.
Grove City police said he then continued west on Home Road and north on U.S. Route 62, running another red light near the ramp to Interstate 270 and almost causing an accident.
Police gave up the chase due to the safety risks for other motorists as Brown continued north on U.S. 62 past Stahl Road.
According to information from the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, Brown was arrested in Circleville at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 11.
Grove City police had issued a warrant for Brown on a felony fleeing charge Aug. 9. Felony warrants on robbery and weapons charges had also been issued for him, and according to information from the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, he also now faces fugitive-from-justice and parole-violation charges, also felonies.
