An Orange Township man's attempt to use a turn lane as a passing lane led to a two-car wreck earlier this month.

Delaware County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a crash about 7:45 a.m. Aug. 18 at the intersection of East Orange Road and Green Meadows Drive in Orange Township. A driver heading west on Orange Road tried to avoid a stopped car at the intersection by passing it using a right-turn lane, according to sheriff's reports.

The SUV entered the intersection and was struck by a second SUV heading north on Green Meadows Drive, reports said. Neither driver was injured in the crash, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, according to sheriff's reports.

Deputies cited the 45-year-old driver who used the turn lane improperly with illegal passing, according to Delaware Municipal Court records.
