The Hannah Sarver Memorial Fund has been established at Fifth Third Bank to help her family with expenses, following a Sept. 1 fire that took the 17-year-old student's life.

Sarver was a Westerville South High School student who was attending the Delaware Area Career Center for the equine science program.

Westerville Division of Fire units were called to the first block of Allview Road about 5:10 a.m. Sept. 1 and arrived by 5:15 to find a "pretty intense" fire, according to Chief Brian Miller. Miller said four people were in the house at the time of the fire. By the time first responders fought their way into the house, Sarver was found dead.

Cherie Jorgensen, Sarver's aunt, said the house is a total loss and the family didn't have homeowners insurance.

Sarver's mother is still hospitalized and being treated for burns she sustained in the fire, Jorgensen said.

Jorgensen said any contributions would be used for her niece's funeral, which has yet to be scheduled, and the family's living expenses.

Donations can be made at any Fifth Third Bank location.
