Grandview Heights police are investigating a single-car crash that left a Columbus woman dead last week.

Elizabeth A. Edwards, 36, of Renwick Lane in Columbus was killed in the crash, which occurred Sept. 27 at the intersection of West Fifth Avenue and Dublin Road in Marble Cliff.

Grandview police were notified at 4 a.m. Sept. 27 that a car was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on West Fifth Avenue from the area of Olentangy River Road. The car was estimated to be driving at more than 100 mph.

A 911 call was received about two minutes later reporting a crash had occurred at the intersection of West Fifth and Dublin.

When officers arrived, they found the rented 2017 Chevrolet Cruze fully engulfed in flames, reports said.

Edwards, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Columbus Police Department's Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Unit is assisting Grandview police with the investigation.

In other recent Grandview police reports:

* Officers responded Sept. 24 to reports that two vehicles parked in a lot in the 700 block of Rail Street were broken into.

In both cases, a window was smashed to gain entry to the vehicle, reports said.

A camera and accessories were stolen from the first car, according to reports. Nothing appeared to be missing from the second car, police said.

* A resident of the 800 block of Timberman Road reported Sept. 24 that the side door of his garage was forced open and a power washer and lawn mower were stolen.

* A resident of the 1200 block of Oakland Avenue told police Sept. 28 a bicycle was stolen from her garage and some change taken from her car.
