The 2017 Taste of Bexley will feature familiar flavors and new attractions.

The Bexley Area Chamber of Commerce will present the event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at St. Charles Preparatory School, Walters Commons, 2010 E. Broad St.

One of the new features at this year's Taste of Bexley is the venue. It previously was held at Franklin Park Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. St. Charles' Walters Commons enables the event to be held all in one large space, said Elaine Pelz, executive director of the chamber.

"We're excited because St. Charles gives us the opportunity for people to see everything all at once," she said.

The Taste of Bexley will showcase 25 restaurants, offering everything from pizza to cupcakes. A cash bar will be available, along with craft beer, wine and cider tastings from central Ohio breweries. The diverse offerings showcase local Bexley businesses and establishments from throughout the region, Pelz said.

"We draw from all over Bexley and outside as well," she said.

The event draws attendees from surrounding areas, said Bexley Mayor Ben Kessler, who is serving as a celebrity judge again this year.

"It's a fun event," he said. "You see people you know. It brings a lot of community people out. It helps bring awareness of Bexley to people who may not be familiar or who may be looking at Bexley (to relocate)."

In addition to Kessler, this year's judges include Angela Pace, WBNS-10TV community-affairs director; Mikaela Hunt, Columbus broadcast personality; and Zoey Miller from the Columbus Navigator. Restaurants will vie for Golden Spoon, Silver Spoon and Bronze Spoon awards. Additional awards will be given for best dessert and best craft beer.

The Capital University Big Band and musician Dave Sky will provide entertainment. Participants can take selfies in a photo booth and share their enthusiasm for the Ohio State University football team with the Buck-I-Guy, who will mingle with the crowd.

Free chair massages also will be available.

Advance tickets are $30 for adults, $10 for children ages 3-12, and free for those 2 and under. They can be purchased at Bexley Pizza Plus, Bexley Natural Market or the Drexel Theatre and online at

Tickets will be $35 at the door.
