Hilliard Davidson High School will present "Junie B. Jones Is Not a Crook" this weekend at the school's performing-arts center, 5100 Davidson Road.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, and Sunday, Oct. 15.

Tickets may be purchased at localevelevents.com or at the door. They are $7 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens.

Emily Campbell, Davidson's assistant theater director, said she was searching for plays based on children's books and recalled the popular Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park.

"My younger sister loved them growing up and I have fond memories of reading to her and laughing about all of Junie's crazy adventures," Campbell said.

In the play, Junie is a kindergartner who finds a unique item she believes she can keep, especially to impress a new boy in class.

"Because finders keepers, losers weepers, right?" said Campbell, who described the play as "hilarious and heartfelt."
