Students from Reynoldsburg's Central Ohio Art Academy will present a number of projects this weekend at the Mini Maker Faire at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Pickerington.

The Mini Maker Faire begins at noon Saturday, Nov. 11, and Sunday, Nov. 12, at Barnes & Noble, 1738 Hill Road North.

School director Donna Boiman said her students will present their work during a four-hour time slot from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

"Nandi Rowe begins the event with a short lecture on a recent mural painting she completed for a community garden and she will instruct kids on how to create a small mural of their own," Boiman said.

Rowe is a junior at Reynoldsburg Encore Academy; her mural was installed in front of a community garden at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 5081 Carbondale Drive, in Columbus.

Her presentation is scheduled from 4-5 p.m. Nov. 12.

Boiman said Rowe is an Ohio State Fair champion who has received numerous awards for her creative artwork. She was recently accepted into the 2017 International Space Foundation Art Contest.

From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 12, author Cheryl Cattledge will present a video and songs from her book, "Let the Cat Out." The book is directed toward kids in kindergarten through fourth grade. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Ashley Tennant, a Pickerington seventh-grader and recipient of the Jurors Award at the 2017 Ohio State Fair Youth Art Competition, will offer a program on "Drawing Cat Characters for Fun," assisted by Reynoldsburg student Lucie Cotner.

Other Central Ohio Art Academy demonstrations include "Drawing Real Cats" by Caroline Ryan, assisted by Imani Pollard; and "Drawing Cats as Designs," by Kadyn Werkhoven.

Boiman said from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Pickerington North High School senior Marc Tennant will present his short film, "My Name is Nandi," a video profile of Rowe.

"That film is currently being shown in New York at the High School International Film Competition," Boiman said. "Marc will then show off some of his new productions that the kids always love."
