Someone reportedly burglarized a Westerville nail salon by throwing a rock through a glass door.
According to reports, a Westerville police officer was conducting a security check on the morning of Nov. 19 at the business on the 600 block of West Schrock Road when he noticed the glass front door had been "smashed." Officers checked the inside of the business and surrounding businesses but found nothing else damaged. A large rock was found on the floor of the salon.
When the business' owners arrived, they reported that a cash register was the only item missing from the property.
Officers eventually found the cash register lying in a nearby parking lot. It was missing more than $300.
In other recent incident reports from the Westerville Division of Police:
* A Westerville man reported that someone stole a handgun from his vehicle.
According to reports, the man parked his car at his home on the 300 block of Hickory Lane about 8 p.m. Nov. 19, leaving a handgun and a can of pepper spray inside the unlocked vehicle.
When he checked the car the next afternoon, the gun and the spray were missing.
According to reports, two other thefts were reported from vehicles in the area in a similar timeframe. The investigation is ongoing.
* A resident on the 400 block of Radcliffe Drive reported repeated vandalism of his property. He said someone painted symbols of "a clover or a leaf" in his driveway on the afternoon of Nov. 20 and added that he had seen people throw a milkshake onto his driveway previously.
