Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Winter Birds, 8 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Nature Center. Guests will look for feathered friends on a 2-mile walk and tally results.
Blacklick Woods Metro Park
6975 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg
Beginning Birding Series: Part 1 Size and Shape, 2 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Nature Center. Guests will learn how to identify birds using a combination of their size and shape.
Homeschoolers: Camouflage Quiz, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 18 at Beech Maple Lodge. Guests will sharpen their observational skills with a series of quizzes and learn about nature's disappearing act.
Metro Five-0: Level 1 Nature Sketching, 6 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Beech Maple Lodge.
Ages 50 and older will draw a winter nature scene. Materials will be provided.
Holiday Symbols GPS Hunt, 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 22 at Nature Center. Giests will use GPS to find and learn about holiday symbols hidden in the park.
Blendon Woods Metro Park
4265 E. Dublin Granville Road, Westerville
Hike Around Thoreau Lake, 10 a.m. Dec. 16 at Nature Center. Guests will take a 2-mile, off-trail walk behind the lake to look for plants and animals.
Signs of Animals, 2 p.m. Dec. 17 at Nature Center. Guests will look for wildlife signs on a 2-mile walk through the woods.
Homeschoolers: Sounds of the Forest, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Nature Center. Ages 6-12 will learn about the sounds all around them as they take a walk in the woods and try activities about the physics and sound with the Ohio State University physics teacher Mary Wildermuth.
Preschoolers: Sights, Sounds and Smells, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Nature Center. Guests will learn to use senses on a discovery walk in the woods.
Metro Five-0: Level 3 Solstice, 11 a.m. Dec. 21 at the Nature Center. Ages 50 and older will take a 2-mile walk and discover how ancestors relied on the changing seasons.
Highbanks Metro Park

Christmas Bird Count, 9 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Nature Center. Guests will search for feathered friends as part of the National Audubon Christmas Bird Count and tally results and enjoy hot chocolate.
Storytime, 10 a.m. Dec. 18 at the Nature Center. Ages 6 and younger will enjoy tall tales of tall trees.
Inniswood Metro Gardens
940 S. Hempstead Road, Westerville
Christmas Bird Count, 8 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Nature Center. Guests will search for birds and collect data for the National Audubon Christmas Bird Count. Hot drinks will be provided.
Garden Lantern Walk, 6 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Innis House. Guests will enjoy a walk through the gardens lit by candle lanterns.
Prairie Oaks Metro Park

Just for Kids: Silent Night, Silent Hike, 2 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Darby Bend Lakes. Guests will enjoy a 1.5-mile hike and learn to appreciate the sound of nature heard in winter silence.

Pre-K Storytime, 10 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, 505 W. Whittier St. Bring little ones for a nature-inspired story or two.
Weekly Bird Hike, 10 a.m. Saturdays at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Guests will search for birds in the park.

Metro Five-0: Level 3 Solstice Saunter, 10 a.m. Dec. 21 at the Arrowhead Picnic Area. Ages 50 and older will welcome winter with a 2-mile hike on the shortest day of the year.

Audubon Christmas Bird Count, 10 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Schrock Lake Restrooms. Guests will search for birds on- and off-trail for the National Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count.

'Tis the Season, 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 16-17 at the Farmhouse. Guests can take a break from the holiday bustle with a quiet stroll around the farm, as well as string popcorn and make ornaments to take home.
A Christmas Evening, 4 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Farmhouse. Guests can make decorations, string popcorn and enjoy other seasonal 1880s activities on a lamplight evening.
