The Hilliard Planning and Zoning Commission on Dec. 14 approved a sign variance for Graeter’s Ice Cream, clearing the way for the shop at the northwest corner of Scioto Darby Road and High School Drive.
The sign approval followed the commission’s Nov. 13 approval of a site plan and conditional-use permit for a drive-thru.
The shop, approximately 2,500-square feet and made of red brick, will be built on 0.68 acre, which is divided into three lots with a building on each.
All three buildings would be demolished to build the ice-cream shop, according to city planner John Talentino.
Graeter’s was one of nine cases commission members considered Dec. 14.
The cases included approval of a 5,452-square-foot addition to Parkside Community Church, 5505 Hyde Park Drive, for use as a private school to be known as St. Andrew’s Academy.
