The pizzeria credited with bringing true Naples-style pie to Columbus is shuttering its location in the Heritage apartments just outside of Grandview Heights.

Bono Pizza, known for its quirky toppings -- tuna and mustard? -- and pizzas with crackling crusts baked in a wood-fired oven, will close its doors Jan. 31 at 1412 Presidential Drive while its owners try to shore up a lease elsewhere in Columbus.

“The location really isn’t right for us,” said Ruth Wilch, who owns the pizzeria with her husband, Jake Wilch.

Bono has had multiple addresses since its founding more 20 years ago by Bill Yerkes.

Yerkes sold the pizzeria to Jake Wilch, then a manager, five years ago.

Meanwhile, Bono’s food truck will be operational while another permanent spot is located, Mrs. Wilch said.
