Worthington's annual State of the Schools address has been canceled due to inclement weather.

In a Facebook post about11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, the district announced that it had canceled the event "due to winter weather and road conditions."

Worthington received enough overnight snowfall from Tuesday into Wednesday that the district canceled school for Wednesday, along with all evening activities.

District spokeswoman Vicki Gnezda said by the time the call was made, Franklin County was still under a level 2 snow emergency, and district leadership wasn't willing to risk people driving in the conditions.

"We felt we needed to make the call by noon," she said.

The State of the Schools presentation was set to include updates on academic issues and the district's facilities plan. The event would also feature performances from district music programs.

Gnezda said no reschedule date has been determined for the event.
