Groveport City Council members voted 4-1 Monday, April 9, to name Chad Grashel to fill the unexpired term of former council member Marvin Stevens.
Grashel is a service quality specialist for NetJets Inc. who has served as a Groveport Recreation Center basketball kids’ camp volunteer.
Councilman Shawn Cleary cast the dissenting vote because, he said, he couldn’t decide which person would be best for the post
The other four candidates who applied are Cheryl Ballou, a regional account manager for United States Traffic Network based in Chicago and president of the Village of Grovepointe Condo Association; Dan Knode, a former member of City Council and now general manager of operations for American Limo’s Columbus office; Jack Rupp Jr., an assistant fire chief for Plain Township who has served on the city’s water and city charter committees and currently chairs the Groveport Personnel Board of Review; and Amy Shropshire, founder and principal of CASK Communications and marketing director for the nonprofit Drupal4Gov.
Stevens resigned March 12 after he was notified by the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System that he would lose health insurance coverage if he remained on City Council.
