A representative from an alarm company protecting an empty building that once housed Kmart, 1284 Brice Road, reported finding a man sleeping in the vacant structure.

The employee was working on the alarm system at about 11:39 a.m. May 7 when he discovered the man, described as black and in his 20s.

The man fled the scene when he was discovered.

Police reports said he got into the building through the rolling overhead door, which had a bottom caster out of its track, allowing entry.

Officers secured the building but could not find the trespasser.
