This is one of my favorite weeks of the year -- the week when the sporting world turns its attention to Dublin, Ohio, USA, for the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide.

We at the city always look forward to this opportunity to shine on a global stage as we show the golfers, media and other visitors from throughout the world what makes our community so special.

I'm sure you're just as excited as we are.

While there certainly is much hustle, bustle and even a little inconvenience at times, I think the pride that Dublin residents have in being host to this great event far overshadows anything negative.

Your city staff across all divisions have been hard at work preparing for the influx of guests.

Whether it's the horticulture crews putting the finishing touches on our landscaping or the folks in our street & utilities operations making sure that proper signage is in place for visitors to easily find their way around town, your city employees embrace this chance to leave a favorable impression upon the thousands of people who will be visiting.

Of course, safety is always our top priority in all that we do. Rest assured that our police have been reviewing their plans to make sure the Memorial Tournament and related events are safe and memorable experiences for all involved.

One new event this year is Fore!Fest at Bridge Park. Fore!Fest is a street and music festival from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 31. The event is free to the public and likely will become a very popular annual tradition.

But the major reason why everyone is in town this week is the world-class golf.

This year's Memorial Tournament field includes commitments from Justin Thomas, Tiger Woods, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Matt Kuchar.

It's pretty special to think that an event this prestigious with such talented golfers takes place in our own backyard.

As you make plans to attend the Memorial Tournament, be sure to check out for a breakdown of the fan destinations at Muirfield. And remember that you can get the latest traffic information during Memorial Tournament week through the City of Dublin Twitter account (@DublinOhio) and on 1610 AM radio.

We at the city of Dublin are very honored to have a strong relationship with the Memorial Tournament, and I hope to see you at one or more of the events surrounding such a fine celebration of golf and our community.
