Digfest is the definition of a social event.

Last year, more than 7,000 people attended the annual celebration of craft beer, liquor and spirits.

But this year's event will be even more social.

"We'll be inviting people to take pictures of the good times they're having at Digfest and share them on Instagram using #digfest2018," said Jason Clayton, chairman of the Digfest committee for the Tri-Village Chamber Partnership, which presents the festival.

"We'll be selecting the two best (June 22) and those winners will each receive a terrific swag bag full of items donated by our participating brewers and distillers," Clayton said. "The people who win are going to be knocked out when they see all the great swag they'll be getting."

The eighth annual Digfest – dig stands for drinks in Grandview – will be held from 4 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in First Avenue Park at Grandview Yard.

More than 20 craft beer and liquor makers will offer samples of their products. The beers will be served by distributors rather than the beermakers themselves.

"We put the focus on Columbus and Ohio," Clayton said. "All of the beers and liquors at Digfest are produced locally or in the state of Ohio."

Digfest also will include food, crafts and music.

"It's a great summertime event and the First Avenue Park is the perfect location," Clayton said. "Because it's a park, people have room to sit and hang out and enjoy the music and visit with their friends."

Admission to Digfest is free but tickets are needed to purchase drink samples.

Drink tickets cost $6 each or four for $20.

Tickets also are available in advance at grandviewdigfest.com. Buying online is a good way to avoid lines the day of the event, Clayton said.

Online ticket packages include $30 for one 16-ounce souvenir tumbler and five tickets; $75 for two tumblers, 10 tickets and a Digfest T-shirt; and $150 for four tumblers, 24 tickets and a T-shirt.

"We'll be selling T-shirts and other Digfest swag at a special tent we'll have this year," Clayton said.

The live music schedule will include DJ Charles, 4 p.m.; Feversmile, 5:15 p.m.; Big Mood, 6:15 p.m.; and PopGun, 7:30 p.m.

Digfest serves as the main fundraiser for the Tri-Village Chamber Partnership, which represents Grandview, Upper Arlington and Marble Cliff, Clayton said.

"It's become such a popular event. People look for it every summer now," he said.

"It's part of a big weekend in Grandview with the Tour de Grandview bike race and it falls on the same weekend as Columbus Pride (festival and parade)," Clayton said. "The Pride event ends before ours does so we get a lot of people who head over to Digfest from Pride."
