ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) of Belmont County announces August 9 as the upcoming date for two workshops for businesses. The morning workshop will be about the basics of doing government contracting and the afternoon session will be an introduction to women owned business certification.

"Depending on the type of business, government contracting can be lucrative," says Crystal Lorimor, executive director, "But it does require specific paperwork and processes." The Procurement Technical Assistance Center from the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University will lead both workshops.

"The CIC not only helps businesses move into the area, but we also focus on helping strengthen existing businesses and helping local residents start businesses," explained Lorimor. "There are many resources out there to help start-ups and existing businesses, but it can be confusing. We help navigate those waters."

More detailed information about the workshops, including registration information, will be forthcoming. "If you think either or both of these topics are of interest, save the August 9 date in your calendar," said Lorimor.
