For this year's Fourth of July celebration, the Rotary Club of Westerville has a full slate of events.

Festivities will begin early the morning of Wednesday, July 4, with the Rotary's July 4th 5K Walk/Run.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at Alum Creek Park North, 221 W. Main St. The 5K begins at 8 a.m., followed by a children's fun run at 9:15 a.m.

Participants can register online through a link at or or on-site before the run. The registration fee for those who have not registered in advance is $35 for the main race and $10 for the fun run.

Next up will be the Independence Day Parade, starting at 1 p.m. at the corner of County Line Road and State Street. It will travel south through Uptown Westerville, ending at Electric Avenue.

This year's parade theme is "Home of True American Heroes," and Westerville's first responders and their families will serve as the parade's grand marshals.

The parade also serves as a food drive for the Westerville Area Resource Ministry. Attendees are encouraged to bring food donations and WARM volunteers will be walking the route to collect them.

After the parade, the Rotary Club's Independence Day Festival begins at the athletic fields behind Westerville South High School, 303 S. Otterbein Ave.

The festival has four musical acts performing between 2:30 and 9:45 p.m., including headliners BonJourney, a Bon Jovi and Journey tribute band.

A variety of food trucks and drink vendors will be on hand between 2:30 and 10:30 p.m. Free inflatable bounce houses will be available for children between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m.

The night ends with the annual fireworks display, which will launch at 10 p.m. from Alum Creek Park South, behind Alliance Data, 220 W. Schrock Road. Thursday, July 5, is the rain date for the fireworks.
