Gahanna Lincoln High School academic officer Jessica N. Slocum is poised to become the next Lincoln principal.

The Gahanna-Jefferson school district announced today, June 28, that Slocum would be the next leader, pending approval by the board July 9.

“Jessica is a collaborative educator who values shared leadership and team-building,” said Steve Barrett, superintendent. “She has worked with teachers on curriculum, instruction and assessment this past school year.”

Barrett said Slocum brings a wealth of knowledge with graduation pathways, workforce development and academic programming.

Slocum received her master’s degree in education nearly a decade ago and her principal licensure in 2016 and has held progressively responsible roles in education in the Olentangy district as a teacher and assistant principal before joining Gahanna as academic officer in August 2017.

“We are excited about Jessica’s vision for the high school and look for her to do great things in her new role as the Lincoln High School principal,” Barrett said.

The district announced last month that Lincoln High School principal Bobby Dodd was resigning to take a position as principal of Williams Mason High School near Cincinnati.

His resignation is effective July 31.
