Buckeyes are big in Ohio, but none is bigger than the one at the Ohio State Fair.
The buckeye made by Marsha’s Homemade Buckeyes from Perrysburg has set the record for the world’s largest buckeye, weighing in just shy of 350 pounds, fair spokesperson Alicia Shoults said July 26.
Shoults added that a ceremonial weigh-in will be held next week.
The previous record was 271 pounds.
The “piece” of candy is about 4 feet wide and 4 feet tall and ingredients included 75 pounds of peanut butter, 75 pounds of margarine, 10 pounds of chocolate and 150 pounds of powdered sugar.
And, no, the buckeye will not be eaten, said Matt Smith, who owns Marsha’s Homemade Buckeyes with his brother, Brad.
The state fair runs through Aug. 5 at the fairgrounds 717 E. 17th Ave., Columbus.
