Officially, Our Lady of Victory Church's upcoming event is a parish festival.

But it's really held for the entire community, festival chairman Jesse Oddi said.

"The festival offers a family-friendly gathering for the Grandview, Marble Cliff and Upper Arlington communities," Oddi said. "It's a chance to get together with your neighbors and socialize and have a nice time."

The parish festival will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10-11, at the church, 1553 Roxbury Road in Marble Cliff.

Food again will be one of the main draws for visitors, Oddi said.

"We feature a fish fry on Friday night with the same fresh perch we serve each year during the Lenten season," he said. "Saturday night features our past dinner and we have our famous Italian sausage, pizza, ice cream and funnel cakes on sale throughout the weekend."

A silent auction will offer trips to Florida, gift items, golf packages and sports tickets for professional and college teams, Oddi said.

"It's always a nice array of items in the auction," he said.

The festival will offer five inflatables as well as face painting, a caricature artist and balloon animals for youngsters and games for young and old alike, Oddi said.

Live entertainment will include the Paradise Island Band on Aug. 10 and the Buzzard Kings on Aug. 11.

Proceeds from the festival are used to support various church missions and projects, including area food pantries and the Saint Vincent de Paul Society; to host dinners at the YWCA Family Center; and to provide scholarships for students attending Catholic schools, Oddi said.

Parking will be available on side streets near Our Lady of Victory and at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd., he said. A shuttle service to the festival will be provided.
