The owner of a local business told Grandview Heights police Aug. 7 an employee had reported to him that a man robbed him at gunpoint earlier that day in the alley behind Thomas Road and took a backpack leaf blower valued at $300.
The business owner said his employee indicated he had called police and reported the robbery at an unknown time that day, but the police department has no record of receiving a call about a robbery.

* Two Glenn Avenue residents reported suspicious incidents at their homes earlier this month.
A woman reported her step-daughter was alone in her house in the 1100 block of Glenn Avenue about 1:06 p.m. Aug. 3 when she heard a knocking at the back door. She saw a man attempting to open the door before he ran away, reports said.
A resident of the 1300 block of Glenn Avenue told police she parked her car in her garage at 10 p.m. Aug. 4. When she went back out to the garage at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 5, she discovered several heavy items had been knocked over and other items tossed around, but nothing was missing, reports said.
* A resident of the 900 block of Oxley Road told police July 30 that four days earlier, she had hired a man to cut down a tree at her home and clean up the debris. She said that before he finished the task, she paid him for another job he was to complete after cutting down the tree.
The woman said the man has not returned and neither job has been completed. She said she paid him $900.
* A resident of the 1200 block of Glenn Avenue reported July 27 that two checks she placed in her mailbox had been stolen, altered and cash for $2,350.
