Marble Cliff Village Council gave its approval Monday night, Aug. 20, to the concept plan for the proposed redevelopment of the property at 2015 W. Fifth Ave.
F2 Companies and Elford Development are proposing the Gateway at Marble Cliff, a multifamily development that would include a new three-story apartment building with 26 one- and two-bedroom units over a basement garage; two three-story townhouse buildings along Fifth Avenue containing eight townhouse units, each with an attached two-car garage; and the renovation of the existing 110-year-old mansion to house four to six apartments.
With council's approval of the concept plan, the process now moves into the next stage, in which council will ask for more-specific details from the developer about the project, including information about building design, materials and parking.
Village residents have expressed concern about the density of the project and the amount of traffic it may bring.
Ted Foster of F2 Companies told council he still expects the primary market for the development to be retired empty-nesters.
