A new podcast series dedicated to central Ohio military veterans is coming soon.
"Marching Orders," a ThisWeek Community News project, involves local veterans sharing their experiences during service in times of war or conflict.
The podcasts will be posted at ThisWeekNEWS.com the first and third Monday of the month, starting Sept. 3.
Look for abbreviated bios of the veterans in the following Thursday papers, starting Sept. 6.
The first three guests are, in order:
* Don Jakeway of Johnstown is a 95-year-old U.S. Army World War II veteran who parachuted in behind enemy lines a few miles from the beaches of Normandy during the invasion June 6, 1944.
Look for Jakeway's story online Sept. 3 and in ThisWeek's publications Sept. 6.
* Robert Burr of Delaware is an 87-year-old U.S. Army Korean War veteran who was in two fierce battles: Bloody Ridge and Heartbreak Ridge.
Look for Burr's story online Sept. 17 and in ThisWeek's publications Sept. 20.
* John T. "Ted" Mosure of Westerville is a 69-year Vietnam War veteran who was part of the U.S. Navy's SEAL Team 1. Mosure is a co-founder and board member of the Ohio Military Hall of Fame.
Mosure's story will be online Oct. 1 and in print Oct. 4.
