A Grove City police officer recovered a stolen vehicle Sept. 6 less than two hours after taking a report filed by the vehicle's owner.

The officer was patrolling at 1:38 a.m. in the area of Central Crossing High School, 4500 Big Run South Road, and noticed the SUV parked in the school lot, according to reports.

The officer checked the license plate number and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen. The officer then realized it was the vehicle involved in an earlier report. A resident in the 3400 block of Grant Avenue reported the vehicle had been stolen between 1:30 and 11:52 p.m. Sept. 5.

In other recent Grove City police reports:

* A resident in the 4600 block of Snowy Meadow Drive told police she was checking her bank accounts on Sept. 1 when she noticed her checking account was short. She contacted her bank and discovered four counterfeit checks totaling $1,500 had been cashed Aug. 22 from her account, according to reports.

The checks, which were cashed in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area, had her account and routing numbers but did not have her name on them and showed another bank logo.

* The co-owner of a business in the 4000 block of Parkmead Drive reported the building was broken into Sept. 3, The man said he received a noticed just after 3 a.m. that a motion alarm had been triggered at the business. He said he asked the alarm company not to call police because there had been a recent problem of the motion alarm inadvertently going off.

The man said he checked the business later that morning and found the front window had been broken and two bicycles, valued at $1,200 combined, were missing, reports stated.

* Two Lake Louise Drive residents reported Sept. 4 that items were stolen overnight from their vehicles.

A resident in the 3500 block of Lake Louise told police two of his vehicles, one parked on the street and one in his driveway, were broken into. A pistol, money, a purse and office supplies were stolen, according to reports.

Total loss was $360.

Another man reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of his house in the 3600 block of Lake Louise. A wallet containing $45 in cash was stolen, reports stated.

* A Hilliard man reported three tires on his car were slashed Sept. 5 while he was at work at a business in the 2000 block of Stringtown Road. Total damage was $400.
